I feel this is undeserved.
I would like to turn this around with the application of some tender loving care.
We are looking for people who have an affinity with our town and who would like to be part of a large volunteer group that will give Raymond Terrace a makeover.
We need 25 talented local artists to participate in Raymond Terrace’s first large community mural.
We're particularly after those who can paint realistically and have some time to give to the cause in September and October.
Our purpose is to create an uplifting, feel good experience that everyone can relate to.
It’s quite a big project but it promises to be greatly fulfilling for those who take part.
Especially when they see how people interact with the finished artwork.
The mural will be about 20 meters long by 1.2m high through the length of an arcade in the main shopping precinct.
The design is fixed but each artist will paint in their own style with the addition of two effects that will make the artwork consistent throughout.
No previous experience of painting murals is required but the ability to paint or draw realistically is important.
There will be support on hand if it is needed.
I would like each artist to paint on at least four of the eight panels.
The painting will be done indoors by small teams of six people.
As many of you will be living busy lives, you will be able to work on it from 10am to 4pm or from 7pm to 9.30pm.
I don’t want to say too much about the design as I don’t want to spoil the surprise.
The official opening isn’t until February but what I can say now is that the design is beautiful and cheerful.
