The choir will entertain members and guests at the meeting on September 1.
The meeting begins at 11am at Soldiers Point Bowling Club.
Members are reminded to phone Barbara on 4984 2890 if they cannot attend the meeting by the Monday prior.
Fingal Bay Probus
MEMBERS of Fingal Bay Probus Club continue to enjoy the activities organised by a committee of men and women.
In consequence, variety is the spice of this organisation.
The barbecues are regular and well attended. The wine tasting each month has become very popular. Morning tea and monthly visits to the local cinema, followed by lunch at local restaurants, means the club is truly established in the pleasures of Nelson Bay.
Meetings are held at Fingal Bay Sports Club on the second Monday of each Month from 9.30am.
Phone secretary Julia Redlich on 4981 5797 for more information.
Soldiers Point Marina scholarships
IRRAWANG High School students Jessica Drummond and Amy Weston are the recipients of the Soldiers Point Marina Scholarship.
The two year 12 students were the successful applicants of the scholarship, which is part of a Real Futures Foundation initiative.
The grateful and excited students were presented with their $1000 cheques on August 24 by Charlie Elias, the foundation’s program manager.
The scholarship funds will assist with textbooks for Jessica as she pursues a career in accountancy at TAFE as well for Amy who will study at the Alphacrusis College with the end dream of becoming a youth pastor.
The annual Soldiers Point Marina Scholarships are open to young people from the wider Port Stephens community to help them go on to TAFE, university or take on apprenticeships or other training.
