A MAN from Butterwick has been charged with serious driving offences following an investigation into a fatal crash at Beresfield in May.

Officers from the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit charged the 55-year-old Butterwick man with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death on Saturday, August 27.
The charges come after police investigation into a crash on the New England Highway at Beresfield early on May 10.
A 30-year-old man from Ellalong died at the scene.
A 55-year-old woman from Thornton also involved in the collision was taken to John Hunter Hospital with suspected back injuries.
The Butterwick man and a second woman, 49, from Metford were uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
On Saturday, the Butterwick man was issued a future court attendance notice and will appear in Maitland Local Court on November 3.
