THEY say that lightning does not strike in the same place twice but that is not the case for Raymond Terrace paralegal Mel Zambelis.
Ms Zambelis, known from her position at CMI Law Firm and her role in the Sincerely Elvis Tribute Act, has won a Mo Award two years running.
Together with her Sincerely Elvis Tribute Act members Wayne Cooper, Alicia Cooper and Paul Chaplin, Ms Zambelis attended the 40th annual Mo Awards.
The Mo Awards, held in August, acknowledge the best in the industry for their excellence in live performance.
For the second year running, the Sincerely Elvis Tribute Act has claimed the Mo Award for the Best Tribute Act in Australia.
Performing is a hobby of Ms Zambelis’, which she has been doing for many years now and loves.
“To be nominated again for a Mo Award was a great surprise and to win for the second time is an absolute surreal feeling,” Ms Zambelis said.
“Being a member of Sincerely Elvis as both a back up singer and a tribute soloist performing the likings of Connie Francis is a gig that has captured my heart.
“These guys are my stage family and we all put in a lot of dedication and time rehearsing and perfecting what we do and travel all around the countryside sharing with our audiences our passion for music.
“Travelling around and performing at different venues is a great experience. To come back and perform in Nelson Bay in a couple of months time, to me, is the best feeling because I can get amongst the community that I work with and share my love for music.”
