Doyalson, Wallsend and Central Coast were the most successful teams at the annual Hunter Hornets Championships held in Maitland on the weekend.
Doyalson, at the southern end of the Central Coast, won three titles from three grand finals, with the men’s under 20s, men’s open and mixed seniors successful.
Wallsend claimed the 30-40s men’s, and women’s 30s titles, however, went down to Central Coast in the women’s 40s.
Central Coast teams contested four grand finals for two titles.
The women’s open and women’s 40s teams both won titles. The men’s open, and women’s 20s lost their grand finals.
Nelson Bay had four teams reach grand finals, with the women’s 20s teams the only team to get up in the grand final.
The women defeated the Central Coast int eh 20’s final.
The Bay men’s 30-40s, women’s 30s and mixed seniors fell just short.
The Newcastle City Knights men’s 50-55 team won the title defeating Peninsula Piranahs.
However, the Knights men’s 20s team went down to Doyalson.
Port Macquarie defeated Port Hunter Marauders in the mixed open final.
