The race is set over 10 treacherous kilometres of sand, as far as the eye can see, against a vast sky above.
Not that competitors will have much appreciation for its beauty when their legs and lungs are burning.
Competitors will begin to hit the dunes – some of them over 30 metres high – from 10.30am on Sunday.
Hundreds of eager runners will pass through the checkpoints on their way to the finish line arch that is perched atop the steepest dune.
Australian Olympian triathlete and regular entrant, Courtney Atkinson, will be among the professional runners who will mix it with recreational runners.
Red Bull Dune Dusters is open to participants over the age of 16, offering Open Men’s and Open Women’s divisions.
Entry is open until 5pm Friday (November 5).
For $39, competitors will receive race number with timing chip, transport to and from the start/finish area from Murrook Centre, water and Red Bull on course, a post-race recovery area and an event race singlet.
Head to www.redbull.com.au/DuneDusters for additional information and entry.
