NBN Co. has paved the way for the connections in recent weeks and months with the roll out of the fibre to the node technology (FTTN).
Telstra, one of the licensed internet providers, has encouraged people to take advantage of these connections.
“The introduction of the NBN network in Raymond Terrace marks the beginning of a new brilliantly connected era for locals,” Telstra Country Wide Area general manager Tricia Wilson said.
“Residents in FTTN premises connect to the NBN via a community node or pillar.
“Telstra will make this next generation in telecommunications technology available to around 3500 homes and businesses surrounding Raymond Terrace.”
The launch of the NBN network comes as broadband use in Australia has reached unprecedented levels.
“Last year the volume of traffic carried over Telstra’s fixed network increased by more than 30 per cent,” Ms Wilson said.
“The streaming video revolution is accelerating demand for fast, reliable connectivity, with more than half of Telstra’s fixed broadband traffic now video related.”
Telstra’s Top four NBN network plan tips:
1. Work out how much data you need: Most plans have data allowances that are measured in gigabytes (GB). Make sure your monthly allowance meets your needs by reviewing your current usage and factoring in some headroom.
2. Check your content and device options: The NBN network opens up a world of on-demand content, such as BigPond Movies, Presto and Foxtel Play. If entertainment is important to you, check whether your provider offers a catalogue of movies available to rent or internet TV channels and whether that content is unmetered.
3. Make sure you’re supported: Check whether the services provider can support you in a way that suits you – be it face to face in a shop, in your home with the help of a skilled tech, over the phone, on email, or via social media.
4. Look for value: By combining your voice, broadband and entertainment services into one package, such as a Telstra home broadband bundle, you can enjoy more value for your money.
