Inside the heads the action has been frantic with quality sand whiting bouncing up the beaches from Shoal Bay to Corlette. Toss a savage worm onto the sand flats as the tide is rising an hang on. Dusky flathead are snoozing in the warm shallows that fringe the port with the best reports from Shoal Bay, Corlette and Bagnall's Beach. Small pilchards on ganged hooks, plastics and hard bodied lured doing the damage. Mulloway are in the same old spots - around Middle Island off Soldiers Point, over the wreck in Corlette and under the Karuah Bridges. Fresh squid is the preferred bait. Outside the heads has been disappointing with chilly water, weed and changeable wind. Recent efforts off the Outer Light at Fingal have been miserable. The best fishing has been reported from Broughton Island north to Seal Rocks where snapper around 5kg are in good numbers.
