Or perhaps it’s the warming goodness that works its way through the lips and over the tongue.

Whatever the scientific explanation there are few better ways to start a conversation than over a brew.

The CWA Nelson Bay Evening Branch has organised a morning tea on January 23. 

The Friendship Morning will provide all the ingredients needed for a chat.

“It’s very casual,” organiser Janet Mackintosh said of the Friendship Morning.

“This is a great opportunity to meet some of the ladies of the branch and ask questions about what we do throughout the year.”

The Nelson Bay Evening Branch began in the 1970s.

Members say its still the perfect club for women who work and stay at home mums.

A book stall and Christmas raffle are two of it’s big annual fundraisers.

The money raised is divided between Tomaree based organisations and nationally through the CWA network for bushfire and flood disaster relief.

“There are still plenty of opportunities for baking and craft,” Ms Mackintosh said. 

In the finest CWA tradition,the event will include cake in the $7 cover charge.

The Port Stephens Community Art Centre Cafe will cater the event so the CWA members can indulge with friends.
