Students will enjoy the benefits of dancing in three fully equipped air-conditioned studios complete with ballet barres and timber flooring.
The new premises are located directly behind Bunnings, just four minutes away from the old location at 180 Salamander Way.
“Mum and dad will love it too because they can drop off and then go browse for hardware,” principal,
Miss Robyn, quipped.
Robyn Yvette Dance Centre caters for most dance genres and styles.
Robyn teaches the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus for classical ballet and students can do exams if they are looking to get more seriously into dance.
There are also classes for jazz, tap (exams available), modern, contemporary, and pre-school dance.
Students also get the opportunity to compete in Eisteddfods, perform locally at community events and even tour overseas.
“At the end of this year 20 students are going to Florida to perform at Disneyland, Universal Studios and on a Caribbean Cruise Ship," Robyn said.
“We do a trip every four to five years and it gives the students just that something extra to aspire to.”
Robyn Yvette Dance Centre takes children from pre-school to pre-professional standard and provides a platform for anyone who wants to get their RAD Diploma and teaching qualifications.
This year Robyn is looking to introduce adult tap classes.
“Our new studios will allow us to add them into the timetable,” Robyn said.
Robyn Yvette Dance Centre has five fully trained and accredited dance teachers and three assistant teachers who have come up through the ranks as students themselves.
This is the 37th year Robyn Yvette Dance has been in operation,
“I started out in the little Girl Guides hall in Norburn Avenue, Nelson Bay in 1979 and then moved to my Stockton Road Studio Nelson Bay before relocating to the Rock Church premises and now we’re entering this fabulous new chapter”, Robyn said.
“I’m very excited and a little emotional to be honest.
“Over the years I’ve seen so many young children blossom into adults - we’re like one big dance family, a home away from home, where students can leave worries behind and focus on their fitness, discipline, skills and so much more.
“It’s lovely to see that transformation, and I’m blessed to have a beautiful team of teachers with the same focus and ethos on encouragement and fun.”
Enrolment and rego day is January 28 from 1.00pm at the new studio at 6 Commerce Close, Taylors Beach.
