Security is under review statewide after hostile vehicle attacks in populated places overseas, the most recent at the East Berlin Christmas market.
The extra cost of these measures caused the Blue Mountains to consider cancelling four of its marches altogether.
While authorities are not reacting to any specific terrorism threat police in particular have increased its measures for this year’s Anzac Day events.
“Two documents are being written up at state level concerning the protection of people at functions including but not limited to Anzac Day,” Port Stephens LAC Operations Officer, Chief Inspector Brian Tracey said.
“With the measures we’ve got in place, security will be bolstered, including more structured traffic controls.
“These measures will mitigate any threat that might arise from hostile vehicles.
“Police are working in close consultation with the RSL sub branches to ensure there isn’t a disruption to services.”
The Examiner spoke to the RSL sub branches and none expected any extra cost.
