I had a great email from Rebecca Sorensen earlier in the week.

I'll let her tell the story: “My husband Adrian Sorensen and our daughter Paris aged 13, caught a ginormous flathead this morning off Corlette foreshore.
“We kept her for few moments took a few photos then released her so she could go off and provide us with more fish.
“Adrian and Paris went snorkelling soon after and saw her happily swimming around the rocks.” Go Paris.
Strange thing about duskies, discovered by Adrian and Paris, is that when released they never swim far and will bite again.
Dusky flathead are being reported throughout the Port from the upper reaches of the Karuah River to Shoal Bay and Jimmies Beach on the north side.
Plastics and hard-bodied lures are very successful, but I prefer tossing a pilchard on a gang of 3x3/0 into the warm shallows and slowly retrieving until Whacko!
The best time to chase flathead is dusk and dawn on the top of the tide.
