Mr Knock had served as an on road, front line Paramedic for 47 years
For 36 of them, in Nelson Bay and Tanilba Bay.
“It’s something that will probably never be eclipsed,” Tanilba Bay paramedic Paul Treston said.
Mr Knock’s colleagues threw him a barbecue at Birubi Surf Club function room, a one-time-only deal Mr Treston said was a reflection of Mr Knock’s high regard among the community.
Mr Knock served his last day on January 13.
“I love the job, that’s what’s kept me in the role. That and my colleagues – they’ve been a second family to me.”
