Higgins legacy
Raymond Terrace real estate agent Craig Higgins and wife Kath have reason to be proud - their boys selected to the Newcastle Rugby League representative squads.
Liam and Luke inherited Craig’s prowess: Halfback, Craig, of course being the last premiership-winning captain of the now defunct Waratah Mayfield club.
The older brother Liam was man of the match in last year’s grand final victory with Souths and more recently played for the Newcastle All Stars against the elite Newcastle Indigenous side.
Luke was selected in the rebels under 23 team to play Northern Rivers at Wauchope in May. Not to be outdone, the talented Higgins girls Olivia and Sophie were selected in the ladies league tag rep teams.
Morton Edmonds

Honouring two great rugby league families from each of the towns, it will give the Roos and the Magpies an all-important warm up to the season launch next weekend.
“Quite a few of the boys are returning to rugby league and it will be great to see them back on the paddock,” Magpies president Jamie Douglas said.
The Magpies and Roos take the park at 4pm at Lakeside but the action starts 1.30pm when South Newcastle take on Windale, followed by the the ladies match up between the Raymond Terrace Ravens and the Mallabulla Panthers.
