The money from the NSW Local Sporting Grants program will be used to buy equipment, upgrade facilities and even meet representative expenses.
“Local sporting groups do fantastic work in our community – keeping people active and bringing people together,” Port Stephens MP Kate Washington said.
“I thank all the hardworking volunteers at the clubs who contribute so much to our communities. I am pleased to support their efforts.”
The grants:
- $13,976, Raymond Terrace District Cricket Club, training nets upgrade at King Park Sporting Complex .
- $12,072, North Arm Cove Tennis Club, construction of a practice wall.
- $5000, Medowie and Districts Rugby Club, upgrade of internal walls in Boyd Oval club house.
- $5000, Port Stephens Outrigger Club, purchase of safety equipment and storage locker.
- $5000, Port Stephens Taekwondo, 2017 Port Stephens Taekwondo Championships.
- $4900, Myall Park Croquet Club, storage shed for equipment.
- $2800, Medowie Little Athletics centre, Kindlebark Oval canteen upgrade.
- $1252, Karuah and District Golf Club, for solar panels and irrigation pumps on greens.
“Congratulations to each of the successful applicants,” Ms Washington said.
“This funding will boost participation in local sports and assist local clubs facilitate access to sport.”
