This time last year the Hunter celebrated its love of tattoos. Tattoos are personal, inspirational and even evocative at times, but they are all works of art. Janice 'Crystal' Waters: "My body is my canvas, my canvas is my history, my history has made me who I am today".

Jacqui Walsh: I love my tattoo, the meaning it has to me is huge. I often get stopped on the street with people asking me about it or asking me if they can take a photo of it because they love it and want to show their friends. Yes it is Simba from the lion king and this photo really doesn't do the colours justice but it is the best one I had on short notice.

Danielle Jones had Expecto Patronum placed on her right foot, with a wand too of course, firstly to show the depths of her Harry Potter obsession. But also, the words "expecto patronum" loosly translate to "I call a protector"...but the protector, the patronus, comes from within, fueled by the spell caster's own inner fortitude and happy memories. So it's also symbolic for Danielle of inner strength.
She also had the T-Rex skeleton added as the patronus this year. The fact that it is skeletal is a nod to Danielle's scientific leanings.
Both pieces were done by Marc at 2012 Tattoo at Broadmeadow.

Bianca Aravena: "I got them for confidence and to tell a story of what I've been though. I get my work done at Bodycraft Belmont by the owner Greg. He has been a big part of why I have so much more confident in myself again. Fourteen years ago I was burnt to 65% to my body and would always cover up my scars but after getting tattooed by Greg, its like I'm another person. And my big tattoo on my back is and always will be my favourite that he has done.

Eddie Szabo: The ocean means absolutely everything to me, it is where I found myself, it is my safe place and my getaway from all of the fears I face in reality. The tattoo is a reminder that I have a safe place. The first symbol on my forearm is a wave which symbolizes the "ocean" the second symbol (a cross) which is commonly recognized as religion and finally the anchor that symbolizes being tied down.

Story: It's my dad's and my favorite band, and blackbird is one of my favorite songs, which is why there is a black bird on top of the Beatles logo.

Anj Wild has a warrior tattoo. "I got it to remind myself of the strength I have to get through any thing life throws my way. I was inspired to get this particular piece of art after beating cervical cancer and the recent loss of a baby."

Story: Harley Quinn is a qualified psychiatrist, she is brilliant, she fell into an abusive relationship but has gained her own strength from that, she kicks ass. The "rev up your Harley" is a quote she says "aww come on puddin', don't you wanna rev up your Harley"

Crystle: My most favourite and meaningful tattoo is a letter my daughter wrote me , she was 5. I was having a bad time in my life after her father and I parted and I got the letter tattooed on my arm , her hand writing the marks on the page everything spot on by my tattooist Clint Hawes, he is just amazing !!! 

Crystle: I am covered in tattoos I have my left thigh covered in the mad hatter.

Story: She's still not finished by yeah she was always my favorite, and her best friend is Harley Quinn so it seemed wrong to have one without the other.

Alyce Alcorn: "I currently have 14 tattoos and they all have different meanings. I started collecting my tattoos at age 16 when my best friend, Siandra, was diagnosed with cancer for the second time and I wanted something that would constantly remind me that if she could go through that without complaint I could do anything. its also a constant reminder that there is always someone worse off in the world than myself. Unfortunately Siandra's cancer ended up being terminal and after she passed I got my second tattoo in honour of her."

Rebekah Turnbull: "Clint Hawes did this tattoo, it's for my daughter. 
Her middle name is Jade, so I got a Jade flower to always have her with me & her name & DOB. My Milah Jade."

Story - My brother and I always shared a love for street fighter and so this way I always have my brother Nick with me not matter where life takes me.

Morgan Harris: One of my 12 tattoos so far & by far my favourite. For my two babies, on my back, one over each shoulder. And both done by Marc at 2012 Tattoo Studio, Broadmeadow. My daughter loves looking at them and she knows they are her & her brother's baby hands. And both kids love all of Mummy's tattoos!

Rachael Henderson: "This is my first tatt and my favourite. It's my daughters name and Ella loves butterflies her favourite colours are pink and purple. When Ella signs her name she always puts little xxxx so that's why they are there. I always wanted a tattoo but never knew what I wanted. I've had another one done on the other arm it's a dragonfly."
