Traffic confusion
Following up on this week’s letter regarding the [intersection at Salamander Way and Town Centre Circuit], I was also waiting for the accident/s to happen.

I can't imagine how many thousands of dollars have been spent on all the fancy road directions and white lines which have everybody totally confused. Why didn't they just put up bollards and make everyone turn left and go round the roundabout as they have done at the exit on Bagnalls Beach Road?
It seems to work there, cuts down on potential accidents, and is about the same distance.

Time to look to future
The revitalisation of King Street as a special precinct can only be good for the Raymond Terrace CBD.
I am sure ratepayers would support seeing some leadership and real money spent by council to encourage more investment in the town.
Small businesses need encouragement to set up in shop fronts in town rather than online or from cheaper premises out of town or even from home. Hopefully now the merger proposals are off, Port Stephens Council can get on with implementing the Raymond Terrace and Heatherbrae long-term strategy which was adopted some time ago after community consultation.

Reach out for support
It was disappointing to read the story on your front page this week about Tania Clark's plight [‘System not working’, Examiner, March 30].
Port Stephens Womens Cancer Support Group Inc has been operating on the Tomaree Peninsula since 2014. We are a volunteer group aiming to assist women in Port Stephens who are battling any form of cancer.
We work closely with the Cancer Council of NSW and Tomaree Prostate Cancer Group. We rely on donations and fundraising from our local community and use those funds to support those ladies battling cancer by assisting with transport to and from hospital appointments, various treatments, domestic chores, emotional support, etc. We have been working hard to raise awareness of our existence within our community. Sadly, privacy constraints and protocols prevent any of our members from contacting ladies who we are aware are suffering with cancer. The initial contact must be made by the sufferer to our group. Once this connection has been established, we are then in a situation where we can offer assistance.
If any ladies are battling cancer and would like assistance, please give us a call on 0427 767 388.

Parking leaves a bad taste
On a recent visit (March 20-23 ) to Nelson Bay I found the parking facilities to be an nightmare.
I spent 20 minutes trying to find a pay station that worked; on my fifth try I found one that actually did …. after walking a considerable distance. I paid the pay station with a card. The next day on a visit to catch the ferry the same garbage – only to find this pay station only took coins. I tried to use the change station but this too was out of order. Finally paid for four hours parking to find out the ferry had decided not to run on that day. The shops and businesses in the area are great - it’s a shame they don’t get the same service from their council. I was told by one business that the council were ruthless regarding non payment of parking fees. “Ruthless” is interesting term. Anyway keep up the effort council. No doubt you would have reasons why the payment of parking is so difficult. Am I interested in hearing them.
