English immigrant, WWII veteran and Raymond Terrace football patriarch Bill Bobbins died last Friday aged 95.

Mr Bobbins was a foundation member of the Raymond Terrace Soccer Club and was its first life member in 1978, after 21 years service.
He coached teams from 1957 to 1974, among them Raymond Terrace, Jesmond, Maitland and Weston.
In 1996 he was presented the Port Stephens Medal and in 2002 was made a Member of the Order of Australia.
Soon after, in 2005 the Bill Bobbins Oval was dedicated in his name at King Park where generations of players have enjoyed the sport.
Since Mr Bobbin’s death, floral tributes have been laid at the ground.
A funeral will be held at St Johns Raymond Terrace at 11am on Thursday.
A wake will be held soon after at the Muree Gold Club for family and friends.
