The council’s libraries in Raymond Terrace and Salamander Bay have a number of programs running between July 14 and 14, including an appearance by best selling children’s author and entertainer Andy Jones.
Additionally, there will be a number of NAIDOC Week activities occurring.
On July 14, Jones will make a morning appearance at Raymond Terrace Library then at Tomaree Library and Community Centre in the afternoon.
What's the Joke? with Andy Jones is a musical show about jokes and humour.
Using guitar, drums and fun props, Jones will show children how to deliver a punch line, create a joke, use gross humour and laugh till their sides ache.
Jones is the author of the best-selling books Enormous Book of Hot Jokes for Kool Kids, The Burptionary and The Fartionary.
Among the NAIDOC Week activities will be storytime and a movie shown at both libraries.
The first storytime will be at the Tomaree library from 10.30am on Tuesday, July 4. The second will be held at Raymond Terrace from 10.30am on Thursday, July 6.
The stories are suitable for children aged 2 and above, and will cost $1.40 per person to attend.
A free family movie afternoon is scheduled in Raymond Terrace on Wednesday, July 5.
Black Screen, a selection of short indigenous films rated PG and G, will be shown from 2.30pm.
Black Screen is an initiative of the National Film and Sound Archive.
At Tomree library on July 6, the film Bran Nue Day will screen from 5pm. It is free for families to attend.
