The Be A Souperhero campaign will strive to raise $100,000 to help struggling Aussie families living on less than $17.00 per day. Souperheroes are asked to seek the support of family and friends to donate to their challenge. All funds raised will go directly to Salvos community service programs.
In the local area, The Salvation Army is celebrating Be A Souperhero week and serving up soup on August 1 at our community lunch and we’re encouraging others in the community to join in the cause.
Be A Souperhero allows the Salvos to provide the best care to members of the local community that are most in need. During winter, it is especially important to think of community members who are experiencing hardship and disadvantage.
Every day the Salvos down at Raymond Terrace open their doors to those in need. We provide community members with everything from community lunches and free breakfasts, to food hampers, towels, blankets, and other care items. Being a part of The Salvation Army is about providing critical items to people in need as well as caring, listening, and making sure our community members feel valued and supported.
Every year, many people in the community go without meals, heating and medical treatment. For families experiencing these difficulties, when it comes to mealtimes, soup can be a real hero because it’s inexpensive and quick to make. We serve up soup every Sunday, and the flavor combinations are endless.
Be A Souperhero is a chance to make a difference to the lives of people who find it hard to put a meal on the table. We encourage as many people as possible to give it a go and commit to eating soup for a week.
Every donation goes a long way to helping the Salvos provide support to people in need.
Be A Souperhero is open to people of all ages and if eating nothing but soup for a week isn’t for you, there are a number of other soup challenges you can do. Participants are able to set up their own online fundraising page and family and friends can show their support by donating online.
Community members can register to Be A Souperhero or make a donation to the campaign by visiting souperhero.org.au.
