The 22-year-old leaves Australia on Sunday to begin her studies at the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
The school’s alumni includes Warren Beatty, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro and Diana Ross, but if Ms Scrace is intimidated by the big names, she is not showing it.
“There’s no doubt in me, there’s nothing that I’m doubting about going,” she said.
“I’m there for three years definitely. But I hope that there’s potential for visa extension after that.
“I’m really excited.”
The day after the former Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College student graduated from a two-year course at Sydney’s Academy of Film, Theatre and Television in November, she flew to the Big Apple for the first time, to audition at the competitive Chelsea acting school.
“I had a bunch of pieces prepared but they only asked me to do two,” she said.
She performed pieces from Peta Brady’s Ugly Mugs and Shakespeare’s Two Noble Kinsmen.
“I heard from them not too long after … I did some Skype chats with them and then I didn’t hear anything for a month and I thought ‘well that was fleeting’,” she said. “Then in January I got the email.”
Ms Scrace was accepted into the school’s three-year professional conservatory actor training program.
Her goal is to earn a living doing what she loves.
“My success would be to be a working actor who gets paid for what they do and who can entertain others,” she said.
It’s up to you, New York.
