The school based at Osterley has recently been accepted into the Arts Alive Concert after auditioning to perform at the Sydney Opera House-based show.
The chance to perform at the concert has been a long time coming for the small school which has 32 kids enrolled at the school.
Helen Tuyl, who is the schools music teacher said: “Every student in the primary school is in the show so it is rare we get a group of kids who are this good. So I thought we had to audition.”
When auditioning, the students had to sing in front of a camera and imagine they were singing to an audience which was later sent to the judges in Sydney.
This is the second time the students have been accepted into the show, the last time being seven years ago.
“It is a big deal for the students as they are such a small school with only 32 kids and 12 of them are infant kids,” Tuyl said.
The Arts Alive Concert showcases the range of musical talents from students across NSW.
The show consists of 700 primary students who will present choral work conducted by a variety of composers such as Australian composer Paul Jarman.
The event seeks to challenge the student’s musical talents whilst also being a rewarding educational experience.
The students will have to learn 11 songs to prepare for the event.
The school will also be holding a Cracker Night fundraiser from 4pm on 26 August to raise funds for the event.
The event will be held at 600 Seaham Road, Nelsons Plains. The public is encouraged to attend the family friendly night that will feature fireworks, a variety of fun rides for the kids as well as a barbecue.
Tickets for the evening start at $5 for a child, $12 per adult, $8 for a senior/pensioner or $20 for a family pass which is an entry for five. Presale tickets and ride wristbands can be purchased online at trybooking.com/RAIT.
