Now the budding Raymond Terrace indigenous model is preparing for the national finals, to be held early next year.
Mia, 10, shined at the NSW state finals in Sydney.
So much so her mother, Chantal Gundy, was asked whether her daughter had modelled before.
Her confidence in talking and modelling on stage impressed judges, and saw her selected as one of the five junior competitors to advance to the national level.
“I’m excited to make nationals,” Mia said.
“I like being on stage a lot.
“I think I have the passion and confidence in myself to do well.”
Mia, who is part of the Bundjalung and Worimi Aboriginal nations, was prompted to apply for the model search competition by lady who works in the office of her school – Grahamstown public.
The competition aims to find the next generation of indigenous models from around Australia.
Mia was one of eight winners announced during the first round of the competition held in Newcastle in December 2016. The win advanced her to the state level.
The NSW State competition was held at Old Government House in Parramatta on August 5.
It was a big day of interviews, photo shoots and runway rehearsals before the main event that night.
The national finals will be held in Sydney on January 18, 19 and 20.
Across the three days, competitors will take part in interviews and photoshoots as well as classes in health and fitness, acting and modelling.
Competitors will also spend time with representatives from some of Australia's leading modelling agencies.
The national final will be broadcast live through the NITV channel on SBS.
