Gardens staff were able to weatherproof the pavilion after its application for an ANZ bank grant program was accepted.
With the $2100 it received through the ANZ Staff Foundation, jointly funded by staff contributions and the bank, the Gardens was able to install plastic rolling blinds around the pavilion.
Gardens founder Kevin McDonald said the blinds meant that displays such as the one that had been on during National Science Week could remain up because there was no fear that the elements would destroy it.
The pavilion is a learning area. Many schools, community groups and organisations make use of the pavilion.
The plastic blinds, which can be rolled up during summer, and down in wet weather, will mean the pavilion can be used all year round.
Mr McDonald, Gardens chairman Kevin Stokes and vice chair Patricia Shearston thanked Renae Reiher, branch manager of ANZ Raymond Terrace, for the grant on Monday.
