The event is designed to arm people with vital fire safety information and double as a thank-you to the firefighters who keep the community safe.
During Get Ready Weekend, residents will be able to speak with firefighters about how to best protect their families and homes from fire.
The event is timely, coming days after a fire threatened Richmond Vale, near Kurri Kurri.
RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said that the dry and warm conditions of the past week, combined with a relatively dry winter, means “we’re facing a potentially dangerous bush fire season”.
