For the next three weeks Jett Floyer-Kell will eat, sleep and breathe football.
The 10 year old from Medowie will travel to Queensland on Friday for a four-day national camp.
Following the camp he will fly to London for two weeks to play and train with English Premier League football club West Ham United's youth academy.
“I’m honoured and very excited,” Jett said.
“I’ll be developing my football skills, but it’s also about the experience playing against those [youth academy] people, knowing how good they are.”
Jett’s love of football developed in the backyard.
Since before he began playing club football at 4, Jett and brother Cooper, 15, grew up kicking a ball around with each other.
Cooper is also a talented footballer.
He, too, has been selected to take part in West Ham's training academy, but will travel to London for it in November.
The London tour has been more than a year in the making for Jett.
He trailed for the national camp in Newcastle, where he now plays club soccer for Hamilton Olympic, in July 2016.
Jett was among the 200 players picked for the national camp, held in Queensland in September 2016, where he attended lectures, training and recovery sessions.
From the national camp, he was selected for the London tour.
Jett and his family received an email around Christmas saying he was one of the 50 players who will be heading to London in September 2017.
In London, players will train at the high profile youth academy and wear the West Ham United colours to face some of the UK’s best junior footballers.
“There’s some really modern and new technology at the academy I'll be training at,” Jett said.
“I’ll be physically training, but also learning the theory behind the training.”
As part of the tour, the players will also attend four Premier League games.
The group of 50 players headed to London will meet at the national camp, being held at The Southport School in Queensland between Saturday and Tuesday, to train together.
Jett and his mum Tahnya will fly to London on Wednesday, September 20 - some math homework in tow for Jett to complete.
Following the two week tour with West Ham, the pair will enjoy a small holiday in Europe.
Jett will return home in time to pick up his representative cricket duties.
