The 6 year old from Raymond Terrace, a Miss Mini Diamond Australia 2018 finalist, has chosen Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Services (PFANS) as her charity to represent, raise awareness and funds for as part of the pageant’s contestant criteria.
“These guys have helped us in out darkest moments and still are helping,” Krystal-Rose’s mum, Rachel Hollands, said.
“Fund-raising is our way of giving back and giving them much needed funds.”
Krystal-Rose, who is known as Rosie, took part in her first pageant when she was 4 years old.
She was named a Miss Mini Face of the Globe Australia grand finalist.
Now 6, the outgoing Raymond Terrace Public School student has become a Miss Mini Diamond Australia finalist and will travel to Brisbane with her mum and grandmother in April 2018 to take part in the grand final.
Ms Hollands, a single mother to three children, said the Miss Diamond pageant was appealing as it was more about fun than beauty.
“Looks do get you into it, but while you’re there it’s about personality and your fund-raising,” she said.
Jo Vanderhelm from PFANS said the organisation was touched that Krystal-Rose had selected them to benefit from her pageant fund-raising.
“Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Services is passionate about supporting children, youth and families in the community, especially those who are doing it tough at home or school,” Ms Vanderhelm said.
“It’s terrific when a young person acknowledges our service with such a generous act.”
The more Krystal-Rose fund-raises, the higher her chance to take out an award at the grand final in April.
While raising funds for PFANS, Krystal-Rose is also seeking personal sponsorship to help cover the costs of being part of the pageant.
