The iconic Mattara Hillclimb will return to Ringwood Motorsport Complex during the October long weekend.

The hillclimb was previously held in Newcastle’s King Edward Park, however was forced to move last year due to works in the park that made it unsuitable for the race event.
Instead, for the second year, the hillclimb will be held at MG Car Club Newcastle’s home base of Ringwood Park, north of Raymond Terrace.
The hillclimb will be held October 1 and 2.
More than 70 entrants are expected to take part.

The last round of the Tri Challenge Championship will also be determined in the Mattara Hillclimb.
Members from the Kempsey and Tamworth sporting car clubs will compete against MG Car Club Newcastle in the championship.
“This being the final round of the series, it will attract fierce competition between current leaders such as Doug Barry in his Lola T 8750 4.5Ltr 600 HP open wheeler, pursued by Amy Mrcela in her extremely fast Minnetti followed by Mitch Craig in his highly modified Gemini Coupe 3.3 ltr GM motor,” Rick Vincent from MG Car Club Newcastle said.
Vincent said another entrant to keep an eye on is Shane Hill in a Pontiac Trans Am.
Spectators are being encourage to head along and watch the action on the weekend.
As well as visiting the pit area, spectators can set up close to the track.
Gates open from 7.30am. Racing will begin at 9am and finish at 4pm.
