Temperatures in Nelson Bay reached a top of 22 degrees, while in Raymond Terrace the heat hit 30 degrees.
It was only a teaser for what the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting for the weekend (September 23-24).
The BOM is predicting temperatures in Nelson Bay will reach 30 degrees on Saturday and 31 desgrees on Sunday.
In Raymond Terrace, it is expected to be hotter. The BOM is predicting the Terrace will reach 36 degrees on Saturday and 34 degrees on Sunday.
