Money raised from a charity bowls day held in July for Dylan Eyrich, a 12-year-old boy who has nodular heterotopia, enabled the association to purchase a 2016 Kia Carnival for his family.
The car, valued at $34,000, is large enough for the wheelchair-bound Dylan, his parents and two younger siblings.
“The Sporting Hope Association would like to thank the Port Stephens community for their generosity in making the fund-raiser an outstanding success,” Jim Hall, president of the association, said.
Mr Hall also thanked the bowling club for the help and support. He said without the club, the fund-raiser would not have been possible.
“We wish Kasie and her family best wishes and hope this donation will help them to make their difficult task a little bit easier,” Mr Hall added.
