Police have laid charges after two children aged four and two were left at home alone.

Police were called to Government Road, Nelson Bay, about 1.45am on Sunday. Passersby located a young girl walking along the road by herself.
The child indicated where her home was and officers searched the unit, locating another child asleep in a cot.
Officers contacted the children’s parents who returned to the unit and were spoken to by investigators.
It is alleged that during a search of the woman’s handbag, officers located cannabis and white powder believed to be methylamphetamine.
The female children were removed from their parents’ custody and a FACs notification was made.
Officers have now charged the parents with abandon/expose child under 7 cause danger serious injury, and possess prohibited drug.
They are expected to appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday November 27.
