Champion 13-year-olds, Hamish Jenkins, from Corlette, and his mate, Brandon Thompson from Boat Harbour, had a ball tossing plastics at Roy Wood Reserve. The boys returned home with a couple of cracker flathead (62cms and 60cms).

It is shaping up to be a thumping flathead season, with reports of quality fish being caught in the shallows along Tilligerry Creek, under the mangroves at Fenninghams Island and over the sea grass behind the oyster racks at Bobs Farm Creek. Try tossing plastics either side of the Shoal Bay boat ramp, on high tide, just before sunrise.
Duffs Tackle reports flathead caught right throughout the system with Sydney visitor Rob Anderson landing a 68cm ‘lizard’ inside the Nelson Bay Marine using chicken breast for bait. I also heard that a couple of Karuah bridge fishos were surprised to find a 72cm flathead in their crab trap.
‘Schoie’, the Sheik of Stockton Beach, is at it again catching summer whiting in the deep holes using live sea worms for bait. The whiting have also moved onto Fingal Beach.
