The theme was the village people, which made for a lot of fun with many of the golfers dressed as Indian chiefs, bikers, cowboys and construction workers.
Those not dressed in theme were dressed in pink, which got everyone into the spirit of the day. In total, 151 ladies teed off with shotgun start at 8.30am.
The popular party hole manned by male golf members was a welcome relief for many with bubbly and cupcake on offer. Also the opportunity for one of the male golfers to hit the tee shot for you while you relaxed.
The function room at the club was decked out in pink and a luncheon for 168 guests followed the golf.
Vice president Jenny Marshall welcomed the golfers and thanked them for their support of the group. A presentation of prizes for the golf, an auction and raffles followed.
With total expenses and running costs for 2017 being over $50,000, fundraising plays an important part for the sustainability of the group.
Port Stephens Koalas will hold a fund-raising barbecue at Bunnings on Saturday.
Money raised from the sausage sizzle at the Taylors Beach-based Bunnings will go towards establishing the group’s koala hospital and caring for sick and injured koalas. As well as sausage sandwiches, there will be raffles, toy koalas and hats for sale on the day.
The Port Stephens Koalas team will be at Bunnings between 9am and 5pm on March 31.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could never have imagined that in beautiful Nelson Bay, so far from Buckingham Palace, a Hen’s Party is to be held to celebrate their May 19 royal wedding.
To honour the forthcoming nuptials, Nelson Bay VIEW Club will be hosting a Royal Gala Concert with afternoon tea at 2pm on ay 5 at the Norburn Street community hall.
Because both Ms Markle and Prince Harry are renown for their support of various charities, they will be delighted to learn that proceeds from this party will go towards supporting disadvantaged children with their education.
The Nelson Bay VIEW Club members are proud to support 10 such disadvantaged children.
It is anticipated that this royal event will be a very popular function and bookings are essential. Already some tables have been booked and the committee understands that tiaras have been purchased. Dress code is as for a royal occasion.
Tickets ($25) for this event will be available until April 30 from Black Pepper in Salamander Bay or by phoning Lorraine on 4984 9456.
