Raymond Terrace Fire and Rescue will continue a 60-year tradition of escorting Santa around town on Saturday for children to meet him, have a chat and, if they are on the ‘nice’ list, receive some lollies.
“The thrill the kids get out of seeing Santa in the truck and talking with him is why we love doing it each year,” station captain Dennis Peters said.
“We get more and more kids meeting Santa in the parks each year. The brigade enjoys it just as much as the kids. This also gives us an opportunity to talk to the parents about fire safety.”
Mr Peters thanked the Raymond Terrace businesses that have once again supported Santa’s lolly run.
Santa will begin his ride around town in the Raymond Terrace crew’s new truck from 9am. They will start at Bettles Park before moving to Boomerang Park water tower, Kia Ora Park, Riverside Park Rotunda, Brown St Park, Irrawang High, Lakeside Park, Gwen Parade Park, Kitty Hawk Park and wrap up in Potter’s Lane Park.
The crew will move to a new location approximately every 30 minutes.
Earlier on Saturday, at 8am, Santa will deliver lollies to children of the Tilligerry Peninsula. Santa will catch a ride with Tilligerry RFS for the drive around town.
For anyone who misses out on the morning run, head along to Tilligerry Rural Fire Brigade’s station in Success Street between 12pm and 1pm. Santa will be handing out more lollies and taking photos for a gold coin donation.
On Saturday afternoon Santa will stop by Williamtown/Salt Ash Rural Fire Brigade’s station for a ride around Salt Ash, Bobs Farm, Williamtown, Fullerton Cove and Fern Bay. This lolly run will begin at 3pm.
