The Seaham Park and Wetland Committee received $12,500 for a Williams Rivers Boating Access at Seaham Study to review boating access and suggest future improvements and designs for boat and kayak launching, and car and trailer parking.
Port Stephens Council received $25,000 to help replace an existing pontoon and gangway at Hinton.
The cash is from the 2013-2014 Better Boating Program.
Cr Jordan and residents in both areas had been pushing for improved access at both sites for a long time.
He said the new pontoon at Hinton was essential, because the existing one needed major improvements.
"The pontoon that is there was basically built by residents," Cr Jordan said.
Member for Maitland Robyn Parker announced the funding on December 17.
"This is a welcome boost for Hinton and Seaham as we head into another great holiday period, and I look forward to seeing the project under way in the New Year," she said.
