Adrian Midwood, from Ocean Ambassadors, and Tim Silverwood, from Take 3, will stop in Nelson Bay on Saturday, one of 12 locations on their Talking Trash Tour between Brisbane and Sydney.

The tour aims to raise awareness about the impact plastic pollution has on oceans and wildlife and invites people to take action by getting involved with activities the men will host in the towns they visit.

"In every square kilometre of Australia's fringing ocean is over 4000 pieces of plastic rubbish," Mr Silverwood said.

"The Talking Trash Tour is about visiting coastal communities and igniting conversation about waste and pollution and illustrating how we can all make a positive difference."

Between 3pm and 4pm on Saturday the pair, sailing to their tour locations on a 38-foot sustainable catamaran, will host a marine debris clean-up. Those wishing to take part should meet at the fisherman's co-op at the end of Teramby Road.

The men will also host the final part of the Port Stephens Council's Summer Coastal Activities program - a free film screening of Planet Ocean.

The 90-minute documentary explores the bond between humans and the world's oceans and the difficulties that they are facing.

The screening of Planet Ocean will start at 6pm in the Chris Walking Theatre, St Philip's Christian College, Salamander Bay.
