The closure was announced through the park's Facebook page on Thursday, May 15.
"We were relying on an investor to upgrade Dizzyland but sadly this has fell through and will no longer go ahead [sic]," the post read. "Dizzyland will stay closed indefinitely."
The Examiner contacted Paula Haas, who co-owns the amusement park with Evelyn Wade, but she declined to comment.
Destination Port Stephens marketing manager Tars Bylhouwer said it was always sad to see a business in the region close, but that it was indicative of the changing times.
"In this day and age, businesses have to be technology savvy and engage with their customers," Mr Bylhouwer said.
"We've seen time and time again a really strong correlation between businesses who listen to their customers, who go out of their way to deliver what customers want, to those who continue what they always do."
Dizzyland, a family-owned business, was first opened along Oakvale Drive in 2008.
The Haas family has been involved in the amusement industry for about 150 years.
Ms Haas' father, Alexander Haas, was a circus performer who came to Australia from Germany and passed down his knowledge of the industry to his family.
Self-described as an "older type carnival fair", the amusement park was home to dodgem cars, a mini pirate ship, a mini Ferris wheel, a mini merry-go-round, and two small jumping castles, among other attractions.
Dizzyland was closed shortly after the Easter school holidays to "make changes over the winter".
Now the park stands bare, with its rides and amusements packed down.
Yearly pass holders are encouraged to get in contact with Dizzyland's owners through the Facebook page.
The Facebook post on May 15 thanked all who visited during the years and hoped the park had put smiles on faces and "created memories that will last a lifetime".
"We will endeavour to do something again in the future in the Hunter area," the post stated.
