Nine members of Imugi Taekwondo, which has bases in Medowie and Glen Oak, returned home last week from the national all-styles championships held in Melbourne with 12 placings and three Australian titles.
"We are over the moon with the results and very proud of all our competitors," said instructor Kelly O'Brien, who operates the club with her partner and chief instructor Tony Gillespie. "We are only a small club with the majority of our members being children and their parents."
Kelly said the club's core values are respect and integrity, and members are encouraged to progress at their own pace.
The three national medal winners were Jeannie-Belle Mason, 17, in the novice women's team sparring; Hugh Higgins, 12, in point sparring; and Tony Gillespie in the NSW team sparring.
The club trains at Ferodale Oval clubhouse every Wednesday night. For more information contact Gillespie on 0459 418 884.
