Hundreds turned out to MX Central Ride Park at Eagleton last weekend to watch round six of the MX Nationals, Australia's premier dirt bike championship, take place.
Racing was held on Sunday, July 5. However, it was believed that the event injected $500,000 into the Port's economy with riders, supporters, travelling fans and race crew staying in the area for the whole weekend.
"The Raymond Terrace, Newcastle and Maitland areas have a huge dirt bike following," MX Nationals series promoter Kevin Williams said.
"It's always great to see so many fans attending the MX Nationals when we visit."
After round six, KTM Motocross Racing's Kirk Gibbs is now at the top of the ladder in the MX1 pro open (450cc motorcycles) section.
KTM Australia's Caleb Ward is leading the MX2 pro lite (250cc motorcycles) section and GYTR Yamaha's Wilson Todd the MXD for under 19s (250cc motorcycles).
Round seven of the MX Nationals would be held on Sunday, July 19 in Shepparton, Victoria.
