Mary Hickie from Port Stephens Animal Refuge said 10-month-old Pirate was surrendered.
"He lived with his parents but the owners are expecting more additions to the family and had to cut down the number of dogs they had," Ms Hickie said.
Pirate will grow to be a large dog.
He is white with black markings and has a short-haired coat.
He is still a puppy and is the type of dog that needs regular exercise.
Ms Hickie said Pirate was ideal for a family that had a big backyard and had the time to train and play with him.
He would be suitable for a family with children.
Pirate will cost $285 to adopt from the Williamtown refuge. The cost covers vaccinations, desexing, microchipping and a lifetime registration.
