The Rotary club’s popular luncheon will be held at Wests Nelson Bay Diggers on Friday, March 11.
Men and women are invited to attend and hear from guest speaker Kim Ellis, the director of International Earth and Space Technology.
Ms Ellis, from Medowie, is a research scientist and lawyer that is employed as a space industry consultant.
“I think Kim will be very interesting to a lot of people,” Rotary member and event organiser Glenda Ridgeway said.
“She loves to inform others about things we don’t understand like space junk and asteroid mining.”
The luncheon, which will cost $50 per person, will kick off at 11.30 and run until 2.30pm.
Tickets can be bought from Wests Nelson Bay Diggers. There will be raffles, auctions and a lucky door prize on the day.
Money raised on the day will go to Rotary community projects and the Yacaaba Centre.
Organisers are asking attendees of the International Women’s Day event to take a new pack of underwear along.
All donations of underwear will go to supporting new mothers in Papua New Guinea villages as part of the club’s Save the Kula Babies project.
“We’re encouraging women to bring a pack of new knickers, all shapes and sizes, which will go over to Papua New Guinea for new mothers,” Ms Ridgeway said.
