The nationally-respected competition drew nearly 400 entries on display at the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre.
Among the prizes handed out last week was the Port Stephens Prize. First place was Peter Ereson Smith with his maritime scene entitled Suns Last Rays.
Another prominent Port artist, Kate McFarlane-Smith, took second place in the Port Stephens Prize for View – Martins Hill. She was also highly commended in the miniatures section for In the Morning Light.
“We have some top notch artists in Port Stephens and these awards demonstrate this,” Port Stephens Community Art Centre vice president Mike Francis said.
Judy and Ross Kurtz from Stony Creek Studio in Mudgee judged the six awards.
Both the judges and Port Stephens MP Kate Washington complimented Nada Yonge and her committee on the display.
Mr Francis said Nada Younge and Nikki Waters were worthy of special mention.
Admission is free to the Port Stephens Art Prize which is open from 10am to 4pm daily until closing at 3.30pm on March 19.
