Nelson Bay Tennis Club hosted the NSW Combined High Schools tennis championship state finals between August 8 and 10, which was managed by Andrew Mitton from Bathurst.
More than 100 players from 10 schools across the state travelled to the Bay to compete for the Floris Conway Cup and the Stan Jones Cup.
Teams of four played doubles and singles matches.
“The spectators were extremely impressed with the high standard of tennis,” Cheryl Moss, secretary from Nelson Bay Tennis Club, said.
“Nelson Bay Tennis Club was complimented for its beautiful eight court facility and magnificent view.”
Sydney Boys High School won the Stan Jones Cup and Endeavour Sports High School (from Caringbah in Sydney’s south east) won the Floris Conway Cup.
The boys teams that competed were Oxley High School (Tamworth), Bathurst High School, North Sydney Boys High School, Westfields Sports High School, Great Lakes College, Hunter Sports High School, Colo High School, Albury High School, Coffs Harbour High School, Figtree High School (Wollongong) and Sydney Boys.
The girls teams were Oxley High School, Parkes High School, Castle Hill High School, Whitebridge School, Hunter Sports High School, Westfields Sports High School, Mackellar Girls Campus (Sydney), Wade High School (Griffith), Grafton High School, Ulladulla High School and Endeavour.
