The puppies, a yet-to-be-named female and male that are about eight weeks old, will be a focal point of the Salt Ash farm’s Threatened Species Weekend.
Their arrival at Oakvale swells the farm’s dingo numbers to five.
The event, running September 9-10, will highlight the plight of Australia’s threatened species, some of which, like the koala, call Port Stephens home.
Representatives from wildlife conservation groups such as the Australian Dingo Foundation, Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal, Rainforest Rescue, Safe Haven – AACE as well as Port Stephens Koalas and Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue will be available to talk with and listen to across the weekend.
Lachlan Gordon, curator at Oakvale Farm and Fauna World, said inviting the groups to the farm was a special opportunity for the public.
“It’s rare that a wildlife park or zoo collaborates with wildlife rescue organisations on the frontline of saving our wildlife day on a daily basis,” he said.
There will be free children’s entertainment available across the weekend and a Wildlife is Art exhibition by Zoe Laurence.
Oakvale will launch its Save Our Wildlife campaign, which was started to help conservation efforts of not only the species that live at the farm, but animals around the globe that are listed as threatened, vulnerable or endangered.
