Jessica Allen became treasurer of the Hornets in January 2016 and was subsequently granted access to the club’s bank accounts.
Club officials first noticed money was missing in February 2017.
Police said there were a number of unexplained withdrawals, which started in August 2016 and continued through the off-season.
Central Hunter crime manager Detective Inspector George Radmore said the amounts “escalated” from the end of 2016.
Police executed a search warrant on Ms Allen’s home in March 2017, where she was arrested.
Ms Allen was charged with larceny and making false documentation to obtain financial advantage.
She will face Maitland Local Court on Wednesday, September 13.
Police have secured $2000 of the missing funds.
