Central Northern and Country Cavaliers faced off at 10am in pool one of the under-15 division alongside Riverina and North Coastal.
In pool two, Illawarra faced ACT Southern and New Coasters played Western.
The Central Northern team includes girls from Tamworth, Cessnock, Singleton, Armidale and Gunnedah.
New Coasters features girls from Newcastle and the Central Coast.
Round two between the teams will begin at 2pm on Tuesday.
The teams will return to King Park Sporting Complex on Wednesday for round three.
Finals will be staged from 1.30pm on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning the under-18 division teams will take to the field and play two days of cricket.
Central North Cricket are hosts of the championship.
