Port Stephens Council reviews Development Control Plan

Residents have been invited to have their say on a series of minor amendments to the Port Stephens Council Development Control Plan (DCP) 2014.

It’s part of a periodic review of the DCP that under the Local Environment Plan guides council decision making when it comes to development.

"When the DCP was adopted in 2015, there was a commitment to continually review the plan and this amendment addresses an array of matters that have arisen since its adoption," the council's strategic planning coordinator Jeffrey Bretag said.

"We believe the amendments will mostly affect those who regularly submit development applications, but there are several changes we really would like for the community to be aware of, especially around secondary dwellings, shipping containers and sheds."

Mr Bretag said submissions can be made in a variety of ways up until 5pm on December 1.

"Submissions can be posted, emailed or dropped into Port Stephens Council during the exhibition period," he said.
