No kid should go without on Christmas Day.
- Craig Higgins
The Examiner has partnered with Dowling Real Estate for the past 23 years to run the toy appeal.
Donations presented to the Examiner and Dowling offices during the appeal are handed over to the Salvation Army.
The Salvos then distributed the gifts among struggling Port families for Christmas.
About 100 Port families seek assistance from the Salvation Army at Christmas each year.
Anyone wishing to donate a toy to the appeal can do so between business hours – 9am and 5pm weekdays – at the Dowling offices in Raymond Terrace and Medowie as well as the Examiner’s office in Raymond Terrace up until Tuesday, December 19.
“No kid should go without on Christmas Day,” Dowling Real Estate Raymond Terrace principal Craig Higgins said.
“Sadly there are a lot of families doing it tough so we hope people can get behind this.”
Examiner editor Anna Wolf said the appeal was an ideal way to give back to a community that has always looked after its own.
“Making a donation, no matter how big or small, will go such a long way to making this Christmas special for someone who really needs it,” she said.
