The association sent three teams – a men and women’s 20 years and a men’s 40 years – with about 14 players each, coaching staff and five officials to Port Macquarie for the three-day tournament which ran December 1-3.
The women’s team made the semi-final and the men’s 20 team the quarter-final of their championship divisions.
The Bay’s 40s mens team won the masters bowl division.
Cal Mitchell from the 40s team was named player of the final.
Bay official Alec Clark finished the tournament as the leading level five referee. Association mate and fellow official John Clark finished just three points behind.
Janine Law, the association’s senior rep coordinator, said the players represented the Neptunes club “very well”.
“We had quite few 15, 16 year olds in the 20s teams,” she said. “The two young teams did really well for such young sides.”
The association’s juniors will begin their season now. The next big event will be the Peter Wilson Memorial Championship, the junior state tournament, to be held in Nelson Bay February 3-4.
