The water has finally warmed up and the nagging north westerly winds have settled down, resulting in magnificent boating and fishing conditions.
With kids in the crew, the number one concern is safety, so be sure to wear life jackets before you head out. Remember also you are entering the Port Stephens-Great Lakes Marine Park where rules, different to other areas, apply. Free Marine Park maps are available at all Bait and Tackle outlets or online.
Fishing and crabbing is out of control with muddies, blue swimmers, flathead, whiting and mulloway charging around the port while whiting are gathering on Stockton and Fingal beaches. The warm water has brought the snapper back on to all the close reefs from Boat Harbour to Broughton Island.
Remember that the boat ramp on Fingal Beach is closed.
